Bus Project
«Heartsafe Busse Davos» - a unique project in Europe
The project «Heartsafe Busse Davos» takes a new direction in Europe
Since July 2008 all buses in Davos are equipped with an automatic external defibrillator (AED) which can be used in the situation of a sudden cardiac death by the trained bus driver and citizens who have successfully completed the education and training on how to use an AED.

The project is unique in that it provides several interconnected advantages:
- the collaboration of lay persons with professionals
- the availability of defibrillators in public transportation systems
- the broad information available and increased awareness of the public
Each bus in Davos is equipped with a defibrillator and each bus driver is trained in resuscitation and defibrillation. Without exception all 25 buses in Davos are equipped with an AED which should gradually form the connection in people’s minds between public transportation and AED, and thus, the opportunity for rescue from sudden cardiac arrest.
The buses are also a platform for obtaining information and stimulating awareness. The project is continuously controlled and supported by the Hospital Davos.
